Setting up the Autotask Connector

Connecting your Autotask to MSPbots enables our bots to pull in " read-only " user data and gives you the ability to activate Message Alert bots and Reporting Botsactivates message alert and reporting bots, among other MSPbots functionalities.

Main steps to complete the set-up

  1. Generate an API User and get the API Keys from Autotask

  2. Enter the API keys from Autotask into MSPbots

To set up the Autotask connection, you have to generate the API user and API keys, input the API keys into MSPbots, and configure Webhooks.

Creating an API User and Getting API Keys from Autotask

    1. Log in to Autotask. Navigate to the menu on the left and click

    2. Click on the + sign to expand the Resources/Users (HR) section.
    3. Next, click

    2. Hover over the downward arrow at the top left of the window and click
  3. on 
    1. New API User.
    2. Fill out the necessary fields under the First General area. 
      1. Set the First Name to MSPbots
      2. Set the Last Name to AI
      3. Set the Email Address to any email address. 
      4. Set the Security Level to the highest level to prevent sync and view permissions later. 
    3. Next, generate the API keys under the Second General area. 
      1. Click the Generate Key button to generate a user key. 
      2. Click the Generate Secret button to generate a secret password. 
        Note
  4. Important:
      1. Take note of the

  5. Key
      1. key and the

  6. Secret as
      1. secret because these may be inaccessible in the future.

    1. Select the vendor from the
  7. drop-down
    1. dropdown in the API Tracking Identifier section.
  8. Make sure
    1. Ensure that Integration Vendor is selected

    2. For the Line of Business field, include all

    1. relating to ticketing to ensure that MSPbots can see the right areas.
  14. Include all if you're not certain which ones are right
    1. If you are unsure which items to include, select all.

Entering the API keys from Autotask to MSPbots

Now that we you have generated the user and API key information, syncing and sharing of data can now beginit's time to sync and share data

    1. Navigate to your MSPbots app and
  1. , on the left side of the home page, click Data Connectors
    1. click Integrations
    2. Scroll down to Autotask and click on Config

    3. Fill out
  2. the Information section
    1. the following in the Information section: 
      • For API User Name, enter the username (key)
  3. you noted earlier
      • from Autotask.
  4. For 
      • For API User Password, enter the password (secret) key
  5. you noted earlier
      • from Autotask.
    1. Once both are entered, click Save and
  6. Synchronize
    1. Sync.
  7.  If
    1. If set correctly, you'll get a message stating the synchronization was successful.  

      • If the input information is incorrect, you will be prompted with the following message:

      • "500 INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR - Internal Server Error at auto task remote server

      • " When this happens, re-enter the correct
  8. Username

      • key) or
  10. Password
      • password (
  11. Secret
      • secret).
